Women Empowerment 2021

Mrs. Vimala Britto, secretary Seek foundation always has the vision towards Women’s Empowerment. Covid-19 has brought huge economic fall all over the world. The most affected will be below average people who rely on daily wages. Since men cannot find work as laborers on the nearby farms. The women finally decided to take matters into their own hands to secure their futures amidst the pandemic Mrs.Vimala britto encouraged all the women in and around the village in making infrastructures and materials made of coconut tree from Esthell resorts.They have collected coconut dry leaves and reething in such a way to make broomsticks.Some of them harvested large no of dry coconut leaves and immersing into water then weaving the leaflets in order to make small mat and roof for the houses.Ropes and floor mats are extracted from the outer husk of coconut.All these products are sold on their own without any middlemen and petty traders.
This became possible through Mrs. Vimala Britto who encouraged them to lead the family on their own and to feed the family. “Something is better than nothing”

Seek Foundation in association with Greater Chennai  Corporation Zone-13  has organized a Covid-19 vaccination campaign on the 25th of March 2021 at St Britto’s Academy at Velacherry. People in and around Velachery walked in with their Aadhaar for their first dosage of Vaccine.GCC organized this vaccination camp to help employees who cannot go to a vaccination center on working days. GCC comes with a group of nurses inoculated scores of residents who stepped into the venue. A doctor was present monitoring everyone.

MORINGA AS FERTILIZER

Moringa as a natural fertilizer? Yes, All of us know Moringa contains lots of nutrition for the human, to add Moringa also has a lot of nutrients for plant life. It has anti-fungal and anti-viral properties. The leaves contain a substance that stimulates plant growth and increases crop production.

By knowing the facts of Moringa, Mrs. Vimala Britto secretary Seek Foundation initiated this kind of awareness about Moringa – has natural fertilizers on 16th July 2020 to the people around the village.  Moringa leaf extract could trigger the activation of physiological compounds in plants to improve the damage caused by drought. Moringa leaves extracts can be used to alleviate the adverse effect of water deficit stress.

Mrs. Vimala Britto has a keen interest in Organic farming. She guided the people in creating a natural fertilizer from food waste. As a result of which huge natural fertilizer bag was created to form a good fertilizer for plant growth.

My name is Cecil Prince Manoj Felix and I am here to fundraise for my collegue, M. Satish Kumar . M. Satish Kumar is 30 years old and is residing in Chennai. M. Satish Kumar has been diagnosed with Cancer. M. Satish Kumar is from a LIG [Low Income Group] and survived by his wife and 2 children. The salary of the employee is only Rs. 15,000 and he is working with our organization [Kerry Indev Logistics] as executive operations at Chennai as an In-plant co-ordinator for a period nearly 2 years. He has been diagnosed with Cancer (Adenocarcinoma) 3rd stage and underwent treatment at ESI hospital and then later shifted to Royapettah Government hospital at Chennai due to lack of facility. He has been there in the hospital for nearly a month now and undergoing treatment. Chemotherapy is in process and surgery to take place sooner. He is the only bread-winner in the family. SEEK & PRIST UNIVERSITY Counselling Session

Seek Team visited the villages to conduct counselling sessions for the students of the village to motivate them to pursue their education. Students were provided the courses available in different colleges under scholarship schemes which are job oriented in order to make them economically independent through education. Many of the students were eager to find the options. Villages covered during the visits on 2nd, 4th ,5th ,8th and 10th of April were Ammaiyapannallur, Sagayapuram, Velankanni Nagar, Vedapalayam, RM kandigai, Kizhakadi, Salawakkam, Meyirodai, Mambudur, Pulipakkam, Ozhayur, Oodai, Kattupudur, Marudham I, Marudam II, Nagamedu, Sithamalli, Karakanthangal , Thirupulivakkam, Kaliampoondi, Karanai, Vayalur, Pennalur, Poondandalam, Thandarai, Edayambudhur, Paleswaram, Chinnalambadi, Ananbakkam, Manamathi, Uthiramerur and Palliyagaram.

KALVI SEERVARUSAI

SEEK FOUNDATION Participated in “KALVI SEERVARUSAI” initiative organised by the BDO and the education department in the adopted villages coming under the Pulipakkam and Edayambudur hub to improve the quality of instruction and to enhance the  infrastructure facilities. SEEK has been contributing to the schools and the school children for the past 3 years. During this event, SEEK donated study materials and sports and games materials to aid the development of intellectual and physical activity in the primary schools of the adopted villages.

Printing and Designing Classes at Pennalur and Pullipakkam

Students of the Dept of Fashion studies studying at St. Britto’s college conducted Printing and dyeing classes for the ladies who are undertaking the free tailoring classes initiated by SEEK Foundation at Pennalur and Pulipakkam. They were taught to use different techniques in printing such as block, screen, tie and dye Batik and so on.

Exam counselling session

Exam counselling session  program and Extra coaching was conducted at Edaymbudur on 16.02.2019, 20.02.2019 and 22.02.2019. More than 80 students from 5 villages benefited from the coaching. Approach towards exams, subject discussion, doubt clarification were held. Students were oriented in English, Tamil, Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Commerce, Economics, Math and  Accountancy. Staff of St. Britto’s Matriculation handled the classes well and gave them study materials. Students were given stationary to aid them in their preparation.
